Disease Prevention
I think we can all agree that dogs and cats have unique talents for exploring their world. Sniffing,
tasting and listening can be more effective than their human companion's eyesight, touching ability and thoughts! The
drawback is that certain types of infections are more readily contracted through nose and tongue. Preventing infectious
disease is one of our hospital's most critical functions, as some of these infections can cause human disease as well.
At the same time we recognize that not all pets share the same environment, eat the same foods or share
same "genes" with its' neighbor. A 15 year old house cat is not exposed to the same dangers encountered by outdoor
dogs and cats, however the 15 year old has other concerns that are just as important. We tailor a plan for each pet
and its' individual needs to:
1. minimize disease.
2. minimize unnecessary intervention. |
